Cultivating Scientific Minds: Morphemic Analysis as Fertile Soil for Earth Science Achievement

Students in the Philippines remain among the world’s weakest in math, reading and science, new findings by the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) showed, with recent test scores showing no significant improvement from the country’s performance in 2018 (Chi, 2023). Notwithstanding the education department's comprehensive reform initiatives and preparatory measures implemented in response to the subpar performance in PISA 2018, the 2022 PISA results, indicate that only a minority of Filipino students who participated in the assessment attained the baseline proficiency level across the three core subjects: mathematics, reading, and science.
