    SY 2023–2024FACQuantitative

Purpose: The study aims to determine the level of awareness and practices of solid waste management among the students and to find out if there is a significant relationship between their awareness of and their practices of solid waste management. Design/methodology/approach: This research employed a descriptive-correlation design. Selecting the participants involved voluntary sampling among senior high school students. This study used an online survey using instruments adapted from the research by Abolucion et al. (2012), which is about the level of awareness of the students towards solid waste management, and Cahoy (2013) focused on the solid waste management practices in terms of segregation, reduction, reuse, recycling, and disposal. The data analyses used were percentage distribution, weighted mean, and chi-square. Findings: The results revealed the students are knowledgeable and mindful of solid waste management. These students have an acceptable habit of segregating, reducing, and reusing waste materials, while they fall short in recycling and disposing of garbage. The student's awareness of solid waste management does not affect their disposal practices; however, their practices in terms of segregation, reduction, reuse, and recycling influence their awareness of solid waste management. Research limitations/implications: This study was limited to senior high school students at Tanza National Comprehensive High School. Originality/value: This study focused on the awareness and practices of the students regarding solid waste management.

In the evaluation of one’s capacity, one should be holistic. This means that the measurement of intelligence should not be centered around verbal communications but also in written form. Writing skill is a very essential component of learning, when learners can write and can express their ideas and opinions effectively that signifies that other competency like comprehension and vocabulary, syntax and grammar were already mastered by them. It is a complex skill that should be mastered even at the primary level. Writing is a skill, and it is considered amongst the crucial skills in the world of the 21st century. In this global landscape, the global workforce calls for individuals who have incredible skills particularly in written communication which pertains to a great advantage when they possess such skill upon entering a job. (Diane, 2022). This skill is very in demand globally especially in the world of global workforce. It is one of the skills that an employer looks for the applicants to carry out the roles and responsibilities whenever they get hired. This is the very reason that during this skill it should be mastered by the learners in their primary years in schooling in order that when they entered to higher levels of education, they are already on the process of mastering and applying the skill to a wide range scale.
